Buildings and Landmarks
Note - The Key and it's descriptions are personally written by PK
Hi, I'm PK. This is my village-- or, rather, I suppose it's grown out of the title "village" a bit, don't you think? But "Tao Town" and "Tao City" either don't sound right or don't quite apply. But, that's all right. Tao Village sounds cozy, doesn't it? It sounds like a nice place to live, right? Not too crowded, everything you need in one place... I guess I should give a little tour or something. Well, let's get to that.
1) Tao Tenements - I had these built recently, after the whole... winter disaster thing. They don’t quite look like the rest of the buildings, huh? Yeah, I know, they’re kind of out of place. I guess I wanted to bring a bit of the... the look from Alomomola City into Tao a bit. Did you know they rarely use Pokemon-shaped buildings there? I know! It’s kind of hard to believe if you’ve been living here for a while, but they’re a lot like plain boxes out there. These tenements reflect that a bit. They’re nice if you want to rent from me and don’t really want to live out in the woods. Safety in numbers and all that jazz.
2) The Rescuer HQ - I still can’t even believe this place is up and running again. After Mike turned tail and left like a little baby, I really expected to just reclaim the tree for myself. I think this tree’s about... 150 years old or so? Maybe more. It’s the oldest one directly in the village, and biggest too. It’s one of the few that didn’t start to rot and die after the... the Sorbet incident. Lucky them, I guess. Anyway, Fresnel managed to cough up the money to get it properly built. I imagine he’d have done it himself, but treehouses--sturdy ones-- are tricky jobs to do without experience, or so I’ve heard. I don’t built a lot, so I don’t really know. Er, moving on...
3) Devonshire Law Firm - If you notice anything at all, notice how that geezer finally has a proper door. No more abandoned-building look. Oh, yeah, and that’s also the headquarters for the Rogues, if that interests you.
4) Spinda Café - Run by none other than that nauseating fellow Vertigo. Er, I don’t mean to imply that he’s got a nauseating personality or anything; I just mean that I get a little sick watching him totter around all the time. Trust me. You’ll know what I mean if you check it out yourself.
5) Barty’s Bluff - Run by Barty the Drifblim, as the name might have suggested to the mentally acute. He’s all right, I guess. He always requests quite a bit of money to keep his place going though... kind of annoying, but I can’t say I don’t like quick transportation when I need to get somewhere in a flash. He has little outposts set up in a couple of areas. I know there’s one in Sapling Village... and I think he was trying to get one set up in Alomomola too. That’ll really help me out if they start paying for his services too...
6) Sleepytime Books - This is actually something I’m taking a little bit of a gamble on. These two fellows came by--Gerard and Vic, I think?--from Alomomola (oh, and have I mentioned yet? That’s my hometown) and they wanted to set up a little used book store. I was a little wary about how many of you could actually... read... so I wasn’t too sure about letting them take up a valuable spot of land. Alas, Callahan wouldn’t leave me alone the moment he heard of my little dilemma. And, well, that guy’s a gigantic pain in the neck, so I eventually obliged. So there you go.
7) Happy Treasure Time - Okay I don’t even know what’s up with the name. I think the Diglett who owns this place is a little foreign, but uh, that’s okay. I guess he’s really good at helping your teams out in discovering... whatever. Artifacts? I think that’s what it was. Well.. for a price, anyway. He’s negotiated with each of us guild leaders and set up a little arrangement that we can give teams slips for doing a good job at something-or-other, which says that the team is worth taking on a treasure search. Not ordinary treasure, but... artifacts. I wasn’t really listening when the guy was talking to me, but I think he mentioned that Palette’s paint is a type of artifact that lets her use a move she can’t normally use. I’m not too interested in that stuff unless it’s worth a lot.
Speaking of Palette...
8) Pal’s Studio - So. Pal has a little shop right inside Tao Village now. He used to be out in the woods-- do you remember that? I sure do... oh well. Palette’s his studiomate. Most Pokemon go to Pal for portraits though. Palette’s work is... something. Maybe go see for yourself, I guess, if you’re into art. I don’t really have much time for it, myself.
9) Snowflake Memorial - Maybe I lied a little when I said I didn’t have time for art. I designed this one myself! It’s made of nevermeltice, and all of the names of the lost Pokemon from the Sorbet incident are inscribed on the roof. There’s a little bell you can ring when you want to call out to someone you lost. Speaking of Sorbet... If you never met him, the fountain in the middle of town is a pretty good likeness. It’s not quite as big, but it does endlessly spew out water and look pretty while doing so. I still have no clue how the fountains work! Any fountain we stick there just magically pulls water out of thin air and... oh well, whatever. I don’t wanna question nice things.
10) Missionary of the Divine Arc - Okay I might have made a slight mistake in allowing this place to be set up. I thought I’d need the money--and they were willing to pay a lot for this little spot of land-- but as it turned out, I didn’t. So, um, yeah, it’s run by an Archeops named Gabriel, who was sent here by that stuffy chicken, Prosphora. Gabriel wears a shiny little garb around his neck if you haven’t seen him yet. I have no idea what the crap the building’s supposed to be either, so don’t give me those funny looks. I tried asking him what it was and he said it was a holy symbol or something. That’s it. Beyond that, I’m not even sure he knows what it really is.
11) Master Foo Dojo - You guys all know him by now, right? He gives lots of sage advice, apparently. Oh, and his grandpa came into town recently I guess. I think they have something new planned soon with... moves or something. I wouldn’t really know anything about how useful Foo’s advice is, but I can’t help but admit that my curiosity is piqued a little at the special moves thing I’ve been hearing about. A move tutor!
12) Pidove Post - Run by Archimedes. Sometimes I see a Pelipper come in to deliver mail from Alomomola, and sometimes a Delibird from Snowy Village. I can’t really recall anything else I’ve seen though. This is just the mail place, no big deal. It’s free, too. Well, free for you guys. I have to pay to keep it going.
13) Doctors - No fancy name here. Whatcha see is whatcha get. That weirdo Quaak and that surgeon Remedy live here, as well as work from here. Oh, and Poppy, too. Don’t bother Quaak with small-time things, he doesn’t take well to that. That’s my advice. Talk to Poppy if you have a stomach ache or whatever.
14) More tenements! - We were already over this, but I thought I just might point out how many there are. There are quite a bit.
15) Awesome Gazebo - Okay well that’s not really its name, but gazebos are pretty cool. Wait... I guess it COULD be its name, I mean I had it built and all... what the hell, let’s call it the Awesome Gazebo.
16) Missy’s Daycare - I think Missy’s going to be getting some help soon. There are simply too many orphans lately who just keep popping up. Sometimes I wonder what the deal with that is. Where do all those eggs even come from...? Well, I mean, I obviously know where they come from! I’m not a kid! I just mean, she always has a lot dropped off on her. It’s kinda weird. Do Pokemon really just... oh, whatever.
17) Chrys’s Tailoring - This is where you redeem your accessory vouchers. Chrys makes a bunch of neat little accessories for you guys. Er, not just Chrys, no-- he has help! There’s this ghost, Slash- er, er, no! Gnasher. His name’s Gnasher. He’s kind of a jerk, but I can’t help but kind of admire the things he comes up with. It’s kind of a shame he has to be such an angry dork. Where’d all that talent even come from?
18) Tao Ranch - Moved next to us, if you remember it ever being further away. The old ranch got really messed up, unfortunately... I still am not quite sure who exactly works on the ranch now that Malt works with me. I’ve only ever done business with Malt, so, uh. I think there’s a Meganium and... wow. I forget. Whatever! They’re getting more help soon, anyway.
19) Merchants’ Hut - Undoubtedly my favorite building, as you might be able to infer. The biggest and most important building... I live here, too! All our stock and supplies are here, and there are usually a few guild members helping out to run the place. This is where I do most of my training of new members. I do actually know quite a bit about items, y’know. And good sale techniques, locations for shop, ways to bargain, and... ah, I won’t bore you. I can see the look on your face. Moving on.
20) Auntie Kanga’s Storage - Got extra crap? Dump it here if you have an accessory voucher to blow.
21) Patrat Patrol HQ - Hire these guys if you want some extra security. They’re pretty trustworthy from what I know.
22) Icy Cave - This is... it’s mostly closed now, but this is where Sorbet came from. You can see it in the distance. if you’re looking north. It’s right next to...
23) Monochrome Tower - A tower that’s a pretty good landmark for finding your way back to Tao, no matter how far away you are. It’s way tall and easy to recognize. There’s no way in anymore, apparently. I know that Chill and Devonshire got in once, but they had special keys. I’m not entirely sure what happened to those.
Missions and Events
Mission 1
With all guilds now up and running, members were given simple objectives to complete, some in various places away from the village.
Within the village, Rescuers had to track down a Scrafty named Almond and get Mike's hat back from the troublemaker.
Merchants had to help out various businesses in the village; clean up Master Foo's Dojo, assistance Archimedes at the Pidove Post, help Auntie Kanga at her storage space, organize trash with Candy, and as well as work at the Item Stand in from of the Merchant Hut.
By the end of their missions, each guild leader received a strange stone that had potential in helping them in the future. Devonshire obtained the Dark Stone. Chill got the Light Stone. PK received the God Stone.
Event 1
After a successful Mission 1, all guild members and leaders worked together and held a party at the Spinda Cafe.
Mission 2
While Mike went to deal with Merlot, Chill ordered the remaining Rescue teams to help around the village. They were to stop Ovaltine from tricking villagers out of their possession. Auntie Kanga's daughter, Roo, went missing and searched high and low within the village to find the child. A Delibird got lost on his way to Missy's daycare and need to be escorted. Anyone who helped him received an egg and a new member!
Merchants were told to help Missy watch over her children as she handled passing out eggs. PK also requested teams to go to the cafe and pick up a shipment a cake. Failure for that mission was not tolerated!
Rogues were told by Devonshire to take a Joltik spy and plant the bug within the Rescuer's headquarters. There was also a Ditto who transformed into a door and blocked Gunpowder's way into his treasure room. He asked members to deal with the Ditto and warned them not to touch his stuff.
Event 2
As a reward for helping Zhu carry his fireworks to the village, the hermit put on a firworks display for the entire village.
Mission 3
While one of the guild leaders took experienced teams on an important mission, remaining guild members still had objectives to complete on their own.
Rescuers were told to crash a ceremony the Rogues where hosting in order to award Mike's mother, Syrup, and make her want to leave the village right away. In addition to this, Chill...(?) told members to find and capture Gunpowder, but didn't specify a reason for doing so.
Merchants were told to escort Ovaltine back to Tao Ranch and deliver a golden statue to the Rogue's headquarters for a ceremony they were hosting. Also, PK...(?) told members to enter the Rescuer's treehouse and take treasure to pay off Chill's debt to the Merchant Hut.
Rogues were told to make Syrup feel welcome in Tao Village and prevent Rescuers from crashing the ceremony. Just like the other guilds as well, Devonshire...(?) told Rogues to destroy the Item Stand outside the Merchant Hut.
Guild members returned from Monochrome Tower and the Icy Cavern with PK and the Merchants victorious. Sorbet made himself comfortable on the fountain in the middle of the village and offered advise to anyone who sought it. He took it upon himself to maintain peace in the village. He also brought about an unseasonal winter to the village.
PK's Request
Following the destruction of her Item Stand, PK confronted Devonshire but the two realized a Pokemon with the Illusion ability must have tried to frame the Sableye. Palette was the only Zoroark that came to PK's mind, and since she had once worked for the Rogues guild, Devonshire went off to the Creeping Forest to deal with her.
After receiving word of Palette's death, Pal arrived to Tao Village. The grieving Smeargle was met by Chex, who insisted that the artist head to the tunnels under the law firm for a surprise.
Event 3
With Sorbet now in the village, the cold he brought with him caused many Pokemon to become sick. Dr. Quaak asked for all able bodied members to go out and get ingredients needed to make medicine. Afterwards, members were to help Poppy and Remedy in creating enough salve for everyone.
Resignation
One day, Shroomsworth was acting strange and declined in joining PK in counting the day's profits. After Sandy pointed out how strange it was, PK decided to follow the Breloom into the Creeping Forest. After their brief encounter with the Slasher gang, Shroomsworth explained his deal with the villain; he was willing to resign from the guild as long as Slasher did not tell Merlot where Sandy was and took the Deino away from PK. The Kecleon was grateful for what he was willing to do for her and the two spent part of the night together.
The next day before closing for the evening, a member of the Slasher gang went up to the item stand. PK recognized him from the previous night, only to discover it was only a child. Rhodes, still traumatized from an incident in the castle, revealed Slasher's intention to hurt Sandy and lead the Merchant leaders to a waterfall in the forest. There, vile details about Slasher were revealed. A fight ensued, and Sandy did away with the Weavile.
An injured Shroomsworth was brought back to the hut to be treated by the doctors and PK thanked Sandy for what she had done. Devonshire also appeared to the Breloom while he was asleep to thank him on behalf of the Rogues guild for dealing with Slasher. The Sableye told him there would be a gift for him when he would wake up.
The next day, Rhodes and some members of the former gang decided to start the Pathfinders as part of the Merchant guild. Not wanting to stop the children from attempting to have an honest life, PK agreed and sign the papers to make them official.
Redactions
Gunpowder had woken up rather late and failed to make a delivery to the Merchant Hut on time. This made Shroomworth very angry with the Gabit, which was upsetting to Gunpowder since he enjoyed the Breloom's company and respected him. Gunpowder began to take his anger out on Sorbet, but the dragon did not take it personally since he had seen what happened. Sorbet advised Gunpowder to stop trying to be something he's not and took off his eye patch. To make up for his tardiness, Gunpowder paid for an entire crate of oran berries in hard cash. While Shroomsworth at first didn't appear to acknowledge the intention of the Rogue's gesture, he did accept Gunpowder's apology.
A Deal
After he recovered from his cold, Mike went to the Spinda Cafe to relax and have his monthly sundae. To his dismay, his free time was interrupted by PK and Shroomsworth. Shroomsworth invited to treat the Charmander for a meal, after PK had swallowed his entire ice cream in one gulp, but he was dragged away from his partner and left Mike with a rather large bill. Outraged, Mike headed to the Merchant Hut to confront PK but before he could speak, his little sister, Maple, came out of the Kecleon's room and wanted to show her brother something. She had met and quickly befriended Sandy. The Dieno didn't speak much to Mike but he was happy to see his sister made a friend.
PK took Mike out of her room to talk business. With the arrival of his sister to the village, PK demanded Mike pay a ridiculous amount of poke for her citizenship fee. He was furious and, had it not been for Shroomsworth, nearly hit PK. Instead, Mike told the Kecleon that he would speak to Chuck of the new citizenship fee and of her dine 'n dash at the cafe. Not wanting any trouble, PK waived the fee and Mike left. He would return later to pick up Maple after her play date with Sandy.
Mission 4
Merchants were in charge of distributing more medicine to not only villagers, but also to residents of Tao Ranch and the Creeping Forest.
Coming back from his mission in the Prismatic Jungle, Devonshire met and brought Dmitri to Tao Village when the Zangoose showed interest in meeting Sorbet and was also able to willing to fight the Sableye despite being afraid.
The Errand
Dmitri spent a majority of his time helping Missy at the Daycare playing with the younger Pokemon. One day, Missy had her hands full and asked the Zangoose to get some food from the Merchant Hut for the little ones to eat. She handed him some poke and sent him on his way. Dmitri did has he was told and took enough berries for all to eat, but failed to pay. As a result, a very angry PK chased him throughout the village and back to the Daycare. She began to yell, upsetting the kids who were already eating their food, when Dmitri offered the Kecleon the glowing round poke Missy had given him earlier. Realizing Dmitri's ignorance of money and how it works, PK took the poke without anymore fuss and left.
Event 4
With tensions high and the sudden departure of Chill, Sorbet decided to hold a birthday party in the cafe. Instead of getting gifts for the dragon, members were expected to exchange gifts with other teams and guild leaders. Guild members also helped Rhodes in creating an ice statue for Sorbet to possess and attend the party.
Mission 5
Sorbet fell under a powerful illusion and began to destroy the entire village! With PK away to seek help from elsewhere, guild members were expected to work together. Shroomsworth lead the effort to evacuate all villagers and seek shelter in the law firm. Pal and Palette were told by Devonshire to clear out his escape tunnel of a fire demon. Mike and Sandy went to Tao Ranch to get the Ranchers to a safe place before Sorbet's blizzard trapped them. Everyone else was to distract the rampaging dragon and lead him to the Creeping Forest.
PK returned with Coliche to snap Sorbet out of his illusion. He did so, but only after he mortally wounded his dear friend. Sorbet was then returned into a stone and taken to Cathedral Drop by Prosphora.
The village was completely leveled and had to be rebuild. PK and Shroomsworth were about to finally relax after a long night, but Barty arrived with a letter from Arianna, asking for PK to hand over her whistle and notify the Breloom of the Elder Shroom's death. In a rage, Shroomsworth quit being a Merchant guild leader and left for Sapling Village, leaving behind a broken hearted PK. Malt found a distraught PK and offered his help to the guild.
Meanwhile, Anana arrived to the ruins of the village and began to poke fun of PK's so called irresponsibility. She was chased away from the hut when a wealthy Persian arrived. She headed to the Rogue's guild to offer her money and assistance in rebuilding, but Devonshire refused to have anything to do with her and sent her away. However, with Mike's sudden departure and no money to rebuild on their own, Fresnel welcomed Anana's generosity.
The Pulled String
After confronting Gnasher and helping the ghost realize who he was in his past life, Rhodes chased the Banette when the ghost stole his scarf back to the tailor shop, where Gnasher fixed and even upgraded the Sneasel's accessory.
Fight and Flight
Cyclone arrived to Tao Village and quickly got into trouble after she purposely dropped guano on Sorbet's fountain. Vergil brought the Swellow to the Pidove Post to help Archimedes deliver his mail. Cyclone was overwhelmed by what was expected of her in the village, but Archimedes ensured her that she would be free to leave once she served her time. Time until then, the Pidove took her under his wing.
Mission 6
With the village in ruins, PK and the Merchants took it upon themselves to reconstruct the entire settlement. In addition to nearly all of the original buildings, PK also added some apartments and a moat surrounding the village.
Ivory discovered bodies within the Trubbish Dump. With Candy's sudden disappearance, she asked Devonshire and the Rogues to help them carry the bodies out of the village and to The Boneyard, where Jill waited to receive them.
The Illusion
PK had not eaten or slept for a few days, spending all her time planning the new layout for Tao Village. She told Malt she was going for a walk in the forest and not to follow her, but he became concern for her health and dark coloration.
The Dates
Twigs appeared often to take PK away on elaborate dates in Alomomola Bay and left all village responsibilities to Malt. PK also began ignoring Sandy, although not on purpose. The Dieno became depressed but Rhodes offered his companionship to cheer her up.
Reprieve
After months of leaving the Village, Mike returned from Gambitville with Opal. He was completely unaware of what occurred after the destruction of the village, and thanked PK for rebuilding the treehouse.
Event 6
The vegetation in the surrounding area had yet to grow back, so Jasmine asked all guild leaders for her help. All members were to plant seeds and saplings not just in Tao Village, but in the Creeping Forest as well. Once all was done, Jasmine promised to bloom all the seeds at once.
Unfortunately, Jasmine was kidnapped by Shade before she had a chance to bring life to everything. Before Shade could kill her, the Celebi exploded in a time bomb, sending back nearly half of the village to the past.
Event 6 suckers
While the entire village gathered to plant seeds everywhere, Callahan stayed inside his office behind the Merchant Hut, making snark comments on the villagers willing to work in such heat for free. PK noticed the registrar and ordered him to join in their effort. He was reluctant but joined anywhere. Soon, more and more Pokemon began to complain of the heat. It was then PK realized of Callahan's Drought ability and ordered him to go back inside his office.
Well of Memories
After recalling his days at Alomomola City with Anana, to his first arrival to the village, and the last confrontation with his brother, Gunpowder believed Devonshire had possessed his mind and struck the Sableye. It had been a very long time since any Pokemon was able to land a hit on Devonshire, but he wasn't mad at his partner for doing so; on the contrary, he was very concerned. Devonshire feared Gunpowder recollection of his past may be a sign of someone using the Draconicello on him. He warned Gunpowder to be careful until the instrument could be found. Devonshire also gave back the Gabite's eye patch and returned to organizing his note for a visit to Lexy at the castle. Gunpowder went back to his room and began to cry. Dmitri eventually came around and held the Gabite in comfort. The Zangoose refused to leave his side until Gunpowder felt better.
Mission 7
Maple was sadden by her brother's sudden disappearance and sought out advice from Gabriel. He suggested to her and other Rescuers to make gifts and pass them out to other in the village to comfort them in their time of need.
Shroomsworth returned to assume the role of Guild Leader and asked members to help Hops in the cafe since Vertigo was no where to be found.
Complementaries
Shroomsworth and Malt were getting ready to open the hut for the day when Twigs appeared and demand to see PK. Not realizing who he was or his relationship with the Kecleon, Shroomsworth told him she was currently not here and refused to allow him in. Twigs, with use of his sharp claws, allowed himself to enter the hut and again asked where PK was. He was heading towards her room when Shroomsworth blocked him from entering any further. Twigs then set his brother-in-law, Styx, loose on the shop and the Meowth began to break expensive products, all while speaking strange sentences. Shroomsworth was able to catch Styx, but only after Twigs returned from PK's room and confirmed for himself that his girl wasn't around. Twig's hint about his relationship with PK caught the Breloom off guard.
Inspiration
With their mother among the mission, Charcoal, Hatch, and Tohne stayed at Missy's Daycare, causing mischief to the Blissey and the other children. Pal had been hired to paint a mural on a wall in the daycare, but he passed the task down to Palette instead. The Zoroark met the three children and, after a conversation with Tohne, she took them all back to the studio so they could paint out their nightmares. The three children made a mess, just in time for Pal to come home and see. Palette began to explain who the children and their mother were but that only led to an argument causing a rift between the two painters. Before leaving for the daycare, Palette had each of the children paint out their dreams and explained to her. She then stayed with Missy for four days, completing the mural, before Pal appeared and took her home. The two would then dance and reconcile.
Event 7
To everyone's surprise, Callahan revealed Shroomsworth knew information concerning the missing Pokemon. The Breloom had no idea what he was talking about until the fox pestered him to open a safe in PK's room. Inside was a suitcase fill with letters more than 150 years old, all written by the missing Pokemon! In a frenzy, all the letters had been taken.
Mission 8
With PK gone, Anana arrived to claim Tao Village as hers. She tried to recruit and officially hire Shroomsworth but she also made it clear she would have to completely disband the Merchant guild and only hire experience, well-known Pokemon. Appalled by her elitists ways, Shroomsworth kicked out the Kecleon and made it clear he would watch over the guild and village until PK's return.
However, Anana refused to leave the village. She took advantage of a favor Gunpowder owed her, ensured that Fresnel did not interfere with her plan, and took the Rogues to the Merchant Hut and kicked out the Merchants. The guild was officially disband and sought refuge in Sapling Village.
