A mysterious Zoroark with unknown motives. It is said that with a legendary instrument known as the Twilight Clarinet, she can create extremely powerful illusions. She was the one who was behind many major attacks on Tao Village in the past and in recent events.

Missions and Events

Mission 3

She had tasked her Zorua children to disguise as Chill, Devonshire, and PK during Mission 3. Each one had a different task, mainly assigning missions that did not belong to each guild's plans. The problem with them was that they did not disguise very well, perhaps because they did not remember the guild leader's original body shape or look:

  • Hatch, disguised as Chill of the Rescuers, had problems imitating the glasses, making them star-shaped instead of Chill's "cool-looking" sunglasses. Also, his tail was still visible.
  • Tohne, disguised as Devonshire from the Rogues, had problems imitating his crystal eyes. While Devonshire's eyes are a cyan-blue color, the fake Sableye's color was yellow. Same as the first, Tohne's tail was still visible.
  • Charcoal, disguised as PK of the Merchants, had problems imitating her head shape: while PK's head shape is a bit round and the spikes are quite separated, Charcoal's imitation had a more pointy head, with teeth poking out the mouth, and the head spikes were less separated. Same as the other two, Charcoal's tail was exposed.

The intruders set missions for each guild:

  • Rescuers: The fake Chill put on a cartel for capturing the rogue, Gunpowder. Those who accepted this mission had to face and capture the Gabite to complete the mission
  • Rogues: The fake Devonshire wanted PK's item booth to be trashed. Those who accepted this mission had to destroy PK's item booth to succeed.
  • Merchants: The fake PK said that Chill owed the merchants a lot of money and that it was time for him to pay his debt. She asked the merchants who accepted this job to steal Chill's treasure, using force if necessary.

Each of the Zoroark's children succeeded on their tasks, however it didn't take long for the leaders to find out they were tricked. However, in her haste to bring justice to whoever ruined her item booth, PK wrongly blamed Palette for the destruction caused by Shade's children.

Mission 5

For currently unknown reasons, it was Shade who caused the illusion in Sorbet's mind that to believe that PK forced him to destroy all of Tao Village by using the Icicle Triangle and the Draconicello. Though she wasn't caught, Devonshire had Palette helping to clear a Heatran out of the escape tunnels while Sorbet was rampaging, forcing PK to realize her mistake back in Mission 3, and leading them one step closer to discovering who the true culprit was.

Event 6.2

In the second half of event 6, Shade managed to capture Jasmine by using an illusion and bring her to the center of the Illusory Woods. There she held the Celebi hostage, bound in red chains, and attempted to convince her to just leave so she wouldn't have to kill her; though, she was not supposed to give Jasmine that option. One of Shade's children, Charcoal, lead PK and a large band of other Pokemon to where Shade was hiding. Upon the other Pokemon's arrival they attempted to set up an ambush, the full plan didn't manage to come to fruition before Shade moved in for the kill however. Though PK managed to stall her for a moment, Shade struck Jasmine with a mortal blow. In the ensuing confusion, Jasmine exploded in a torrent of time magic; causing the Celebi, Shade, and many other Pokemon to vanish hundreds of years into the past.

Mission 7 (???)

Finding herself suddenly sans captive and being pursued, Shade fled. Devonshire (aided by Vergil, Caldera, and Dr.Quaak) lead a band of Rescuers in hunting down the Zoroark. No longer having her Twilight Clarinet, Shade's illusions were far less powerful. The Rescuers eventually managed to forcefully subdue Shade and bring her to the meeting point at Monochrome Tower.

Mission 7 Epilogue

Upon arriving at Monochrome Tower, it was discovered that the area where Tao would normally be was shrouded in illusion. Devonshire decided to investigate the area, leaving Shade in the custody of Caldera and the other gathered Pokemon. Traversing the illusions, Devonshire found himself in a small village of Zoroark who bore striking golden eyes identical to that of Shade's; though, the beads they wore at this time were a blue color. This tribe was found to be made up of pacifists, who were offering their fullest assistance to PK in attempting to heal the dying Jasmine.

Mission 8 (Past)

Shade awoke to the greetings of Caldera, who had been keeping watch over her. The Chandelure immediately began to question her about her clan and their God, but Shade knew none of the answers he sought. Caldera, condolent of Shade's sacrifice, offered assistance to the Zoroark. In light of this offer, Shade realized her children were in terrible danger due to her absence and inability to preform a sacrificial ritual. Caldera started to question the specifics of the act, intending to send the information to a friend, so as to preform the process in Shade's place. Shade seemed wary, knowing that in letting the information go would mean the Twilight Clarinet would not be returned to her. The Chandelure assured her that, while it wouldn't, her children were the more important thing in this matter; and truly, she would have no further need of it. Shade, realizing that Caldera's offer was the only hope for her children, finally relinquished the details of the ritual; revealing the location of the Twilight Clarinet, the timing of the sacrifice, and the tune needed to be played in its wake. While nearly half the village, including their mother, were transported to the past, Hatch and his brother and sister ended up staying at Missy's daycare. They spend most of their time causing trouble for everyone, especially Hatch. He thinks that if they get everyone to leave the village, their nightmares will end. Hatch believed his mother's disappearance, along with the other Pokemon, was considered a sacrifice and that he would be gaining new power soon. He and Charcoal would get in a scuffle over thing.

Tohne was able to get Palette to invite both Charcoal and Hatch to her studio to explain the color theory to the Zorua. With nowhere else to go, the two siblings agreed to follow. Hatch, at first, was unimpressed with what Tohne had learned earlier, but than began to knock over paint bottles in the studio to try to create more colors. He invited his sister to join in the fun, and together, the pair made a huge mess. Soon after, Pal opened the door, shocked to see the mess and the golden-eyed Zoruas who caused it. After an argument, Palette declared that as soon as she had the mess cleaned up, she and the children would leave.

As Palette cleaned up their mess, Hatch and his siblings were asked to paint out their nightmares. From what Palette saw, Hatch had paint a long, proud, regal head surrounded by darkness with eerie hands covering its mouth from crying for help. Before he could explain what he sees, Hatch broke into a fit and began to cry for his mother. Charcoal began to comfort him and was able to get him to calm down.

Caused trouble for the Merchants during Mission 3 when she pretended to be PK and had all of Chill's trophies stolen from the Rescuers' treehouse. She also told the Merchants to take anything else of value to a clearing in the Illusory Woods.

Charcoal as PK, leading a raid.

Event 6.2

She approached PK and asked her to stop her mother from holding Jasmine hostage and killing the Celebi. Charcoal guided the rescue party through the Illusory Woods to the location where Shade was.

After Jasmine had exploded and caused many Pokemon in the surrounding area to go missing, guild members invited Charcoal and her brothers to come to Tao Village until their mother could be located.

Inspiration

While nearly half the village, including their mother, were transported to the past, Charcoal and her brothers ended up staying at Missy's daycare. They spend most of their time causing trouble for everyone. Charcoal thinks that if they get everyone to leave the village, their nightmares will end. When Hatch hinted the idea that Shade and the other missing Pokemon were sacrificed, Charcoal charged at her brother, claiming that their mother was still alive. She was quick to blame herself for causing the green fairy to explode and cause the disappearance of others.

Tohne was able to get Palette to invite both Charcoal and Hatch to her studio to explain the color theory to the Zorua. With nowhere else to go, the two siblings agreed to follow. When Tohne began explaining how paint worked, Hatch and Charcoal began to play around with the bottles of paint in the studio to in an attempt to create more colors, but just made a huge mess. Pal had just opened the door and shocked to see the golden-eyed children. After an argument between the two painters, Palette told the Smeargle that after everything was cleaned up, she would take the children back to the daycare.

While Palette cleaned up the mess Hatch and Charcoal caused, she had the three Zorua children paint out their nightmares for her to see. Charcoal painted a blue figure with a crown on top of its head with a Raichu standing in front of it. On each side of the Raichu were two Pokemon Palette didn't appear to recognize. After Tohne refused to explain his nightmare any further, Charcoal was put in the spotlight and told of hers. She tells the artist of an orange mouse who is busy all the time fixing things, along with the alien Pokemon. She also mentioned the the crowned figure rumbling like a thunderstorm and a huge earthquake happening before she would wake up. When Hatch failed to explain his painting and began to have a fit, she went to calm and comfort her brother.

Inspiration

While nearly half the village, including their mother, were transported to the past, Tohne and his brother and sister ended up staying at Missy's daycare. They spend most of their time causing trouble for everyone. When Palette expressed confusion at their ungrateful behavior, he admitted to her that his siblings believe that by scaring away the villagers, their nightmares will end. After Hatch and Charcoal finished their scuffle, Tohne asked Palette about painting and how using different colors worked. He did not understand this concept before, which would explain why he had gotten the coloration of Devonshire wrong when he pretended to be the Sableye. He immediately became interested with what Palette had to say and was invited to go to her studio to learn more.

Once the three arrived at the studio and Palette stepped into the kitchen to get them all some food, Tohne began to tell his older siblings of what the artist had taught him earlier at the daycare. However, things quickly got out of hand. Both Hatch and Charcoal began mixing a large amount of paint on the floor of the studio. The mess would spark an argument between Palette and Pal, and by the end, the Zoroark stated after the mess was cleared up, she and the children would go back to the daycare.

While she cleaned up their mess, Tohne and his siblings painted out the nightmares each had. Tohne had painted his entire canvas black, except with a dark yellow sun and a single large eye. When asked about his painted, he told of how he would be standing next to the fountain in the middle of the village during the day when suddenly, the moon blocks out the sun and does not shine in the night. Not wanting to go further into detail about his nightmare, Tohne brings Charcoal's painting to Palette's attention.

Back at the daycare, Tohne awoke to find Palette staring at the blank wall. He apologized for nothing stopping his older siblings for causing the mess and for starting a fight between her and Pal. When he mention he would be nothing except the youngest, Palette took him by surprised and made him promise that if he was ever unhappy with himself, he would change. Template:Clr
