Gnasher is the ghostly spirit of Slasher, reanimated within a Banette sewn by Chrys. He seeks to atone for what he's done in putting his apparent talents as a tailor to work for the village he once antagonized. Though bearing good intentions, his personality is still somewhat abrasive and tends to favor those with respectable talent (as far as he's concerned) over anyone else. He toils to add personal touches to already-existing accessories for the various teams of Tao, and is always proud to show off his work.
Cause of Reanimation
A time after Slasher's death, Rhodes stumbled upon a hidden stash of presumably stolen loot in Creeping Forest while being aided by the Merchants in recruiting his brethren, who were in disarray after the loss of Slasher. Among the loot was a strange cloth. Oblivious to its origins, Rhodes delivered it to the Tao Tailors for use in their trade, guessing that they would be the only ones to find value in such a thing.
Mere moments after Rhodes departed from the delivery, Chrys began acting very strange, much to the dismay of his colleagues. Stricken by a strange mood, he worked with alarming tirelessness on an unknown project. His mood drove him to create strange accessories for sale over its course, which unsettled many.
When Sorbet was driven mad and attacked the village, the Leavanny Hut was the only building that didn't suffer major structural damage, but in that time of crisis, Chrys's project came to life in the form of a Banette. He immediately named himself Gnasher, trapping Winston from escaping the hut while the rest fled in terror, and hopefully to seek help.
While not much is known about what happened in the chaos of dealing with the rampaging ancient dragon, Winston survived his encounter unscathed, but with a heavy hit to his ego as a tailor. It is currently believed that Gnasher, unimpressed with Winston in many ways, convinced him to give up his position by exposing his lack of aptitude for it. Over the course of this meeting, Winston claims to have accidentally cut Gnasher's face in this encounter, accounting for the scar-like patch upon it. Gnasher continues to regard the patch as 'an ugly ruination of his once-beautiful face.'
Missions and Events
The Pulled String
Having asserted his dominance over the tailoring hut he came to consciousness in, Gnasher suffered from broken memories and thoughts of a past life, greatly hindering his ability to think straight. He claimed to be drawn to a place he couldn't pinpoint, prompting him to grill Winston for information on who could lead him to such a thing.
Upon learning of Rhodes, memories came together in his mind, if only slightly. He recalled the Sneasels of the nearby forest, and set out to find his target amongst them. While he did not, he found a group of Sneasels who did not care for Rhodes, but had captured other Sneasels who did.
In time, Rhodes showed up as if taking the bait, though with a very powerful partner to secure his friends. Udon made short work of the antagonistic Sneasels, all while Gnasher watched from afar as Udon hefted the leader of the small, antagonistic group up by his head. Seeing their interactions jarred his memories further, and he eventually made himself known. When he spoke of the Slasher Gang's hidden ways of settling disputes, Rhodes became visually upset and wary of him. Still, due to his mention of such things, Rhodes and the only remaining Sneasel who would stand up to him settled their dispute in that exact way, with Rhodes as the victor.
Impressed by the display, Gnasher finally revealed his intention of having Rhodes lead him somewhere. The Sneasel gradually dismissed his colleagues, then confronted Gnasher about his knowledge of things he shouldn't know. Though Rhodes eventually agreed to help Gnasher, issues arose on the way as he began to suspect Gnasher of purposefully acting like Slasher to bother him.
Gnasher's defense was that he had no idea who he was or what he was remembering, and that he would figure it all out when they got to the place that was calling to him. Sure enough, as they approached the river and went along it, toward the waterfall at which Slasher met his fate, Gnasher gradually recalled his past memories as Slasher.
To the relief of the accompanying Sneasel, Gnasher despised the memories coming back to him, and was able to be convinced that he had the capacity to be a different person. In a show of impishness, Gnasher stole Rhodes's scarf and made off with it back to the tailor hut in Tao Village, where he showed his apparent prowess at the trade in accessorizing the young Sneasel's attire.
After reconciling with Rhodes and putting his past behind him, Gnasher's mind was at ease, though he still retained his dominance over the tailor hut and disdain for Winston. When Chrys was able to return after Sorbet's rampage, Winston had long since departed, and only Gnasher remained. While initially scolded for his harsh words about the Whimsicott, Gnasher was able to convince Chrys to hire him on as a tailor, though he continues to be unimpressed with the work of his fellows in the trade, except for Sherri, who he legitimately respects for her work.
Tasks
Following Sherri's disappearance, Gnasher asked any guild member to help assist him in making accessories. The task was worth just a single point but, if a team wanted more compensation for putting up with his attitude, some were able to sneak away with an old accessory Gnasher refuses to no longer make.
Mission 8
Gnasher made it clear to Shroomsworth he needed silk from a specific Silcoon in Mossy Village. He did not care how it was done or how much it cost the guild to get the silk from Mulberry.

The Slasher Gang was run by the Weavile Slasher, a former rogue, and consisted of many male Sneasel underlings. They were last seen ready to ambush Merchant Guild caravans of eggs on their way back to Tao Village. Rumored to have had problems with PK. While he was alive, he took on young Sneasel to be meatshields for him, killing them off when they got old enough that they might eventually challenge him.
Missions and Events
Mission 2
Slasher had somehow gotten hold of Devonshire's stamp. Fearing the Weavile may use it to cause more trouble in the village, Gunpowder and Rogue members were sent into the Creeping Forest to find and teach Slasher and his gang a lesson.
Shroomsworth and Merchants also needed to deliver a cart of eggs to Sapling Village. The guild was given the option of going through the forest and face Slasher, or head to Merlot's castle. Ultimately, they chose to go through the castle, but if members went through the forest, they would also aid the Rogues with their mission.
Mission 3
Members of the gang began to steal eggs from Tao Ranch. Rescuers and Vergil did their best to protect the eggs and keep the Sneasels out of the ranch.
Resignation
Shortly before Mission 4, Slasher attempted to blackmail Shroomsworth. He threatened to reveal to Merlot the location of PK's recently acquired assistant, Sandy, if Shroomsworth did not immediately resign from his position as Merchant Guild Leader. PK followed Shroomsworth on his way to delivering a copy of the resignation note and discovered the full situation. A fight ensued with the Merchants emerging victorious.
The following day, Slasher and some lackeys went to see Merlot herself over the issue. He instructed another Sneasel to steal information from Merlot's library if they could not successfully convince her that Sandy was with the Merchants (which they, in fact, failed to do). When Merlot refused to listen and dismissed the Weavile, Slasher took his frustration out on one of his lackeys, leaving the kid with a permanent scar on his face.
Later that evening in Tao Village, Slasher had Rhodes distract PK at her item stand while his gang kidnapped Sandy. Rhodes felt conflicted over having been earlier struck by Slasher and ended up helping the Merchant leaders to find Sandy, who was nearly tossed over a waterfall. Slasher hid himself until this moment, then tackled Shroomsworth off the edge of the cliffside just as the Breloom was about to reveal the fate of the Sneasels' former brethren. Slasher received no injuries from the fall, whereas Shroomsworth cracked his leg. After some talk, they fought tooth and nail, with Slasher about to end the other's life when Sandy arrived ahead of the others and snapped the gang leader's neck. And so, Slasher met his demise. His body was later collected by Jill, who accidentally lost track of the golden headpiece while bagging the corpse.
Rhodes went on to form a group of pathfinders, a branch of the Merchants' Guild. He takes in any ex-gang members who want to make an honest living. Template:Clr
