Lexy oversees the library in Castle Draclugia. He's tasked with organizing and preserving the extensive collection of books—though with Merlot's general disposition keeping most of the public away, little needs doing day-to-day.

Lexy values intellectual pursuits over all else, even to the detriment of personal relationships: he's openly critical and abrasive towards anyone and anything he regards as oblivious, uncreative, slow-witted, or even merely boring—

Intellectual laziness is personally, socially, and globally injurious. It is a festering plague that could easily be prevented. I hardly see how not to find it patently offensive.

—though he won't pass up any chance to demonstrate how clever he is. He enjoys anything mentally stimulating, be it a book or a puzzle or a debate, and those few who manage to earn his respect may glimpse a less steely interior: he becomes passionate and talkative about particularly fascinating trains of thought. As well, Lexy has a remarkable ability to remember any detail he finds interesting, which is pragmatically useful for finding particular books in the library and makes him a brilliant strategist besides.

His relationship with Merlot is one of mutual, wary, and above all unspoken respect. Merlot's surprising insights impress Lexy, and Lexy's unabashed nature is a rare treat for Merlot. This standoff gives Lexy the unique privilege of outright refusal to wear the usual maid outfit uniform—though Merlot finds it hilarious to regularly put one on him anyway.

This is increasingly unnerving. Just who has been feeding anecdotes into this amateur armchair psychoanalysis machine?

Lexy has made something of a hobby of studying the Pokémon world, and has a back room in the library dedicated to his research. He has amassed myriad relics of questionably utility, but his pride and joy is an index of details on all known species of Pokémon, assembled from notes left by the previous librarian.

Hang on just a damn minute there. The Pokédex started from his journals, but I've expanded it by an order of magnitude since I've been here, in no small part thanks to those artifacts I've gone to great pains to collect.^{[citation needed]}

Missions and Events

Books

Hailing from Slasher's Gang, a Sneasel under the alias "Skive" infiltrates the library to locate texts on Deinos, with the intention of taking one out. He comes under Lexy's radar, despite being already occupied in a reading of "On Complex Systems of Book Keeping and Arranging." The Eevee offered to give a library card to the Pokemon, if he could defeat him in a game of wits. This was a half-hearted gesture--since from the beginning of their interaction, he had doubted the mental capacity of the thief. Losing patience, Skive threatened him to reveal the books. Caldera came to his aid, at the expense of Lexy's prized velvet chair. The two librarians took up arms to defend their sacred institution. Managing to corner the bandit, he temporarily immobilized the Sneasel by Mimic-ing Caldera's Flame Burst. They return the fainted Pokemon to the forest with Rawst Berries, defeathering his head for research purposes.

Mission 4

Both Rescuers and Rogues needed to enter Merlot's library and obtain a book with information on Sorbet. Rescuers were told to face Lexy in a battle of wits. If they succeeded, the Eevee would then give them a library card and they would be able to borrow the book.

Epilogue

As it turns out, beating Lexy in a battle of wits proved to be too difficult for the Rescuers and the guild members resorted into Rogue-ish ways and merely stole the book. Lexy chased after them as Caldera chased Rogue members as well. When the two different guild collided with one another, they knocked over a grandfather clock, causing Lexy to ignore the thieves and immediately began to repair the clock. Caldera called in for Merlot to help the little Eevee place the clock upright, but also, of course, had to explain to the Baroness how one of her books managed to get stolen.

Mission 5

To escape Sorbet's rampage on Tao Village, villagers used Devonshire's tunnels and it happened to exit right under a bookcase. Lexy was furious to find one of his cases knocked over, but quickly deduced who Devonshire was when he referred the librarian as Shinar. Lexy asked the ghost for his old library card and excitingly went to go open the safe in an office. Within was a letter from the former librarian of the castle.

Mission 7

Following the disappearance of Caldera and Devonshire from their meeting in Castle Draclugia, Lexy rode on Udon to Tao Village to further research the cause of recent strange events. On his arrival to the village, Callahan told the Eevee that Caldera had left a message for him, though the Ninetales pretended forgetting what the content of the message but stated it was somewhere in his vast collection of books.

Moth and Flame

Lexy was at the house of Callahan, searching through every book for Caldera's message to him, when he stumbled upon an ancient children's book entitled "Moth And Flame." It told the tale of a Volcarona named Calliope and her unfortunate encounter with a mythical being, Phlegethon. While reading, Lexy discovered the two pages that detailed how Calliope found Phlegethon a second time had been ripped out, and judging how Callahan's other books were intact, it was no accident. Once he finished reading, Lexy carefully tore out the last page of the book, a portrait of the Volcarona, and tucked it in his fluffy mane.

Mission 8 (Present)

Caldera's letter to Lexy relayed instructions to perform a ritual in Shade's place while they were still in the past. He set out to the Illusory Woods to find the Twilight Clarinet, but the search was fruitless without Shade or her children to let him in the instrument's holding place. He slept in the woods that night to continue the search the next day.

His dream led him to Smudge, who would allow the Eevee passage into the void after he gathered some Pokémon to play hide-and-seek. When he awoke, Lexy set off to find willing participants in Tao Village. After a brief encounter with Fresnel at the Rescuer headquarters, it was clear to Lexy that he would have to seek additional assistance for his mission, since the Ampharos gave the Eevee the impression that his dilemma was not important to the guild. Lexy went to the Merchant Hut and struck a deal with Shroomsworth, who requested that his merchants be paid for their services. As a result, both members of the Merchant and Rescue guild helped Lexy play with Smudge and retrieve the instrument, though only Merchants were rewarded. Template:Clr

Caldera is Lexy's companion and the bookkeeper for Castle Draclugia. The ability to float makes it much easier for him to reach higher shelves, and he has more direct offensive power for defending the library from the occasional attempted theft. He's also a valuable source of illumination, although trying to use him as a reading lamp is not advisable for anyone but Merlot.

Though he doesn't quite have Lexy's knack for drawing conclusions, Caldera is intensely practical, somewhat balancing Lexy's tendency to act rashly. This extends even to his speech; he frequently uses long or obscure words because he feels they capture his meaning more precisely.

Every page of every book in the library has been soaked in a solution of alum and Combee wax, rendering them resistant to Caldera's flame, as well as water damage and tearing.

Missions and Events

Books

Caldera took the offensive when his fellow librarian was being subject to a violent encounter with a member of the Slasher gang. Using the stolen Deino book as a means of distraction, the Sneasel called Skive used a Faint Attack that temporarily brings the Chandelure down. Both he and Lexy recovered from their injuries after removing the Pokemon from the premises. They contemplated on owners of missing library cards, noting on one specific Pokemon named Devonshire...

Mission 4

Both members of the Rescue and Rogues guild from Tao Village came to the castle in order to get a book with information on Sorbet. While Lexy participated in a battle of wits with the Rescuers, Caldera chased away any Rogues who intended on merely stealing the book.

Epilogue

Caldera was chasing Rogue members when the group collided with Rescuers, who couldn't beat Lexy as a game and just stole the book themselves. While Lexy got distracted, Caldera left and got Merlot to help the Eevee lift up a grandfather clock the guild members had knocked down.

Mission 7

Caldera, along with Devonshire, Dr. Quaak, Vergil, and members of the Rescue guild, were teleported somewhere in the Creeping Forest. He points out to the group not only are they in a different location but also in different time period, since he observed some plant life which had been extinct for over a century. For now, he must assist the group in tracking down Shade and bring her to Monochrome Tower.

Epilogue

Once Shade was subdued, the group gathered at Monochrome Tower, finding the other displaced Pokemon. While Devonshire went to investigate the area where Tao Village would normally be, Caldera recommended him to leave the captive Zoroark behind, for worry that it would enrage the locals. Devonshire agreed, though wary of the capabilities of the guilds in keeping a captive. Caldera asked as well if they could attempt to speak with Shade during this time; Devonshire not seeming to care as long as she was not released. Not long afterwards, he was transported with the others forward in time to the Tao of the past.

Mission 8 (Past)

While the village prepared for the upcoming attacks or were otherwise leaving to obtain the cure for Jasmine, Caldera kept watch over Shade. Once she had awoken from the first meaningful amount of sleep she had gotten in a long time, he greeted her and began to question her about the nature of her clan and their God. With condolences for her sacrifice and understanding for what was driving her, Caldera offered his services to Shade. Although she seemed uninterested in this offer at first, a fear of what will happen to her children at the time of the next new moon in the present time drove her to accept. Assuring her that he would likely find a way to get a message to Lexy; Shade explained to Caldera the need of a sacrifice as well the ability to play a favored song upon the Twilight Clarinet. Having no other option than to turn to Caldera (even though there was no guarantee this option would yield the most favorable results), Shade eventually shared the melody needed with the Chandelure, as well the location of the instrument.

Caldera did manage to get a message to Lexy with help from Foxy, detailing to him the information he needed to conduct the ritual.
