Sandy works as PK's guard dog, so to speak, even though she hates being called such. Like most Deinos, she cannot see, and so has to recognize others by their sound and smell.
Background
Sandy hasn't offered much in the way of information about her upbringing, though she seems to have lived in Merlot's castle for her whole life. She got sick of wearing maid outfits eventually though, and decided to hitch a ride on Shroomsworth's egg cart during Mission 2, successfully stowing herself away until they arrived in Tao Village.
Tao Village
PK was going to send Sandy back to Merlot's initially for the sake of avoiding trouble, but then was pursuaded by Sandy's offer of working for free under her as an apprentice... as long as no maid outfits were involved. She accompanied PK to her interview with Chuck, causing him injury after he mistook her for a dog. She then stayed behind with Shroomsworth to learn about the Merchants' Guild during Mission 3 while PK was out trying to awaken a mystical dragon.
When PK returned and fell ill, Sandy stayed at her mistress's side for the entire duration of the sickness. Afterward, she was kidnapped by Slasher and nearly thrown off the side of a cliff into a waterfall. In return for Shroomsworth and PK having saved her, she saved Shroomsworth's life by taking Slasher's.
Mission 5
Sandy is currently helping Mike evacuate Tao Ranch.
Mission 6
Sandy accompanied Shroomsworth to Castle Draclugia, although quickly wanted to leave because it made her feel sad. Upon their return to Tao Village she runs off to play with Maple. Soon after her return, with the recent developments with PK, Sandy has taken a sedentary role. Feeling lost and arguably unloved by the Merchant leader, Sandy recluses within herself.
