Pal the Smeargle is a young painter who dreams of becoming the best artist in all of Tao Village. He works alongside Palette and with the Merchant's Guild often to find work painting on walls and doing frescoes.
PMD: Origins Vol. I
Pal lives in Tao village, drawing portraits of the pokemons he is asked to draw, in exchange of money. One night while he worked on his list of works, he heard a few noises and screams coming out near some trees, he figured out a young pokemon was in danger and went to inspect. For his surprise he found the zoroark who raided the Merchant's hut earlier that day, pursuing a smaller member of her evolutionary line, a small zorua who ran for her life. Intercepting, he used Signal Beam on the attacker, allowing the two smaller pokemon to escape from the threat. Once they were safe, the smeargle and the zorua greeted, telling their names to each other. Pal asked Palette about the reason why she was in such a dangerous place, but she did not desire to tell him. Eventually, pal found out she worked for Devonshire, leader of the Rogues. Palette desired to quit her job, but she wanted some company to face her boss, so, under the conditions of being the smeargle's assistant for two weeks, and that she would be the one telling the Ghost type pokemon that she was quitting, he would be on her side in such tense moment. That morning, after Palette quitted her job, both pokemon returned to Pal's hut where she would be his assistant. Template:Clr

A painter who works alongside Pal, Palette the Zoroark is a former Rogue who swindled rich clients by imitating beautiful pieces of art that faded after she left with the payment. She now works as an honest painter, sometimes working at a steep discount, or even for free, due to her past as a rogue. Having worked with Pal extensively, she ended up learning Sketch from him.
PMD: Origins Vol. I
Having arrived at Tao Village, The small zorua managed to work for Devonshire as his only guild assistant. After a raid of an unknown zoroark on the Merchant hut, the terrifying sableye asked her to track her down and not tell anyone about her mission. He also demanded not to be seen until the morning, for unknown reasons. This task nearly costed her life, having to run away after finding her objective, and would have died if it were not by the Signal beam from a Smeargle stranger that interrupted the Zoroark's pursuit.
Shortly after escaping from the unknown dark type pokemon, Palette met her savior, Pal. she was still not allowed to reveal him why was she tracking such a dangerous threat, or for whom she worked. It was easy, however, to find out that the zorua worked for Devonshire, after she told the smeargle small hints about the Terrifying pokemon she worked for. Palette decided it was time for quitting her profitable, yet very dangerous job, but she was too scared of her boss to do it alone, so she begged Pal to accompany her, which he agreed, under the conditions of being her to tell the ghost pokemon, and to work for the smeargle as his assistant for two weeks. She agreed to the terms happy and eagerly.
Unable to see the boss until the next morning, Pal and Palette went to the former's house, where he talked to her about what he did for a living, which consisted in painting. Impressed, the female zorua asked him for a portrait, which he happily agreed, in exchange for information about Palette's mission.
The next morning, the two pokemon went to the Rogues guild leader's office, and with bravery Palette told Devonshire she quitted her job. Apparently stressed at first, the ghost allowed her to leave without any discussion. Quite a frightening experience it was for the tiny dark type, despite her previous effort to not look scared at the presence of her previous boss.
Sometime later, a certain gabite newcomer appeared in the town and asked Palette for a place to get a drink. She happily told him about the Spinda Café, a place buried underground. The owner of the place, Vertigo, told him that a small zorua used to wander in and out an old law firm, the same place the gabite was looking for in the first place. A few moments later the same gabite appeared and asked her for information about the old building where supposedly the leader of the rogues would be. At first she denied to send any information, but after he threatened to hurt the spinda who told him said information, she did not have any other choice but to reveal the information about how to enter the building.
Event 3
Immediately after Sorbet arrived in Tao Village, PK accused Palette of having been the source of the destruction and trickery caused by Shade's children. Annoyed that her stand was broken as a result of the illusions, PK reasoned that a Zoroark had to be behind the crime, deciding that Palette must have done it. Being an ex-Rogue, Devonshire offered to take care of Palette for PK, who didn't seem to care what happened as long as Palette had to leave. That evening, the artist's house was burned down and a charred corpse found within it by Chex.
Mission 5
At the beginning of Mission 5, it was revealed that Palette had not been murdered by Devonshire at all, but was being harbored in his care for unknown reasons. She scouted ahead to find an angry, cranky Heatran in the tunnels, warning Devonshire of the danger it posed to the evacuation effort. Template:Clr
