The image above just displays a small part of Tao. There is more land to the South, North, and West, though not much can be found in the western region.
The continent on which Tao Village and Alomomola City reside on and where the main focus of the story is. The Eastern part of the continent is the only place heavily populated since the West has been engulfed in some sort of poison. The Western part of the Tao is commonly referred to as the Barrens, for nothing, not even Poison or Steel typed Pokemon, can survive there for long. Despite that region of the land, many Pokemon from all over the world come to Tao, specifically to Alomomola City.
