Once dead and turned into Seviper, he returned to the world of the living seeking a viable body to possess.
Reprieve
He used to be Guld, a gold-hoarding Seviper, who left his peaceful Seviper tribe because he preferred violence.
Now deceased and believing his name is "Gold", he searches for his daughter Opal (from his previous life as Guld) in order to possess her body.
He tried to do so, when Opal was with Mike and Syrup searching for gems in a cave in the Sandsong Desert. Syrup frightened him away and he fled deeper into the desert.

Guld was a mean-spirited Seviper who had a nack for causing trouble, until he crossed paths with Syrup and became her dinner. He is Opal's father.
History
A Thirst For Gold
At an unspecified point in time, Guld payed a visit to a Gambitville saloon. He noticed a peculiar Skuntank and started an argument with her. After Guld attempted to kill Syrup with Poison Jab, but Syrup was unaffected by his poison, and she was able to kill Guld by forcing his own tail through his throat. Later on, Syrup claimed the bounty that had been on Guld's head, removed his tail for a trophy, and asked the saloon bartender, a Cacturne named Donahue, to turn his lifeless body into a stew.
Reprieve
It is revealed by Opal that she and her father were part of a tribe of peaceful Seviper that lived near the Humming Oasis. Guld, along with Opal, left the tribe over a century age since he preferred violence and made their way to the Sandsong Desert, and eventually, Gambitville.
